Dancers, fill us in and let us know how you're doing this summer! Please share your comments to this post!

What are you doing with dance this summer?

Have you traveled to a summer intensive--which one?

What are some of the most important things you've learned and done so far?

Have you been meeting dancers from other states/countries?

What else about your summer dance training do you want to share...?

I am dancing at the Chautauqua Insititution under the direction of Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride (both of whom danced in the New York City Ballet under the direction of George Balanchine)

This is the beginning of our 4th week out of 7 total and I have really progressed in my artistic level as well as my technical level. We performed at the Ampitheatre here on Sunday afternoon. I have also learned a lot of Balanchine technique from Patricia McBride (Raymonda Variations in the entirety, a Valse Fantasies variation, and a Western Symphony variation)

I have met dancers from around the country; however, the program is extremely small- 22 festival girl dancers, 3 girl apprentices, about 7 festival boy dancers and 2 boy apprentices.

Violette Verdy is teaching next week as is Daniel Ulbrich. Today, Patricia Wilde (original lead in Raymonda) walked into our class. It is SUCH an honor to work with such legends. Mark Diamond also teaches and choregraphs here- his choreography is difficult, but ingenious! Chris Martin (danced with ABT, Washington Ballet, and a few others) taught here for the first 3 weeks. Chautauqua is aimed at the more mature dancer- it is more like a setting that you would see in today's companies.
